In the Heat of the Night adalah sebuah film drama misteri Amerika 1967 garapan Norman Jewison. Film tersebut berdasarkan pada novel bernama sama tahun 1965 karya John Ball dan mengisahkan cerita Virgil Tibbs, seorang detektif polisi kulit hitam asal Philadelphia, yang ikut dalam penyelidikan pembunuhan di sebuah kota kecil di Mississippi. Film tersebut mengubah berbagai penjelasan yang tercantum dalam buku tersebut dalam hal yang relatif kecil (dalam buku, Tibbs adalah perwira polisi di California) sampai hal yang lebih besar (penjelasan dasar dari pembunuhan, termasuk korban, dibedakan). Film tersebut dibintangi oleh Sidney Poitier dan Rod Steiger, di diproduksi oleh Walter Mirisch. Skenarionya dibuat oleh Stirling Silliphant.
