Jacqueline Rose

Jacqueline Rose, FBA (kelahiran 1949, London) adalah seorang akademisi Inggris yang menjadi Profesor Kemanusiaan di Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities.^[1]

Kehidupan dan karya

Rose lahir dalam sebuah keluarga Yahud non-praktik. Kakaknya adalah filsuf Gillian Rose. Jacqueline Rose dikenal karena karyanya tentang hubungan antara psikoanalisis, feminisme dan sastra. Ia adalah lulusan dari St Hilda's College, Oxford dan meraih gelar tingkat tingginya (maîtrise) dari Sorbonne, Paris dan gelar dokterandes dari Universitas London.

Buku buatannya Albertine, sebuah novel tahun 2001, merupakan sebuah ragam feminis dari À la recherche du temps perdu karya Marcel Proust.^[2]

Ia dikenal karena studi kritisnya terhadap kehidupan dan karya penyair Amerika Sylvia Plath, The Haunting of Sylvia Plath, yang diterbitkan pada 1991.^[3] Dalam bukunya, Rose memberikan tafsiran feminis pasca-modernis dari karya Plath, dan mengkritik suami Plath Ted Hughes dan para penyunting lainnya dari tulisan Plath. Rose menyatakan keadaan tersebut juga ia alami dari Hughes dan saudarinya (yang bertindak sebagai eksekutor kesusastraan dari lahan Plath) yang meliputi ancaman-ancaman dari Hughes tentang beberapa analisis Rose dari puisi Plath "The Rabbit Catcher". The Haunting of Sylvia Plath meraih sambutan kritis, dan karya itu sendiri menjadi subyek dari sebuah kritikan terkenal buatan Janet Malcolm dalam bukunya The Silent Woman: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes.

Rose merupakan seorang penyiar dan kontributor untuk London Review of Books.^[4]

States of Fantasy karya Rose menjadi inspirasi bagi Konser Ganda buatan komposer Mohammed Fairouz dengan nama yang sama.^[5]

Kritikan terhadap Israel

Rose sangat mengkritik Zionisme, menyebutnya "[membuat] trauma bagi Yahudi dan Palestina".^[6] Dalam wawancara yang sama, Rose menyatakan bahwa, mengutip Martin Buber dan Ahad Ha'am, "Jika Zionisme dapat memproduksi suara-suara semacam itu, ini adalah bukti dari sebuah fermentasi dari nilai langka."
