Geoffrey Peter Murphy ONZM (12 Oktober 1938 – 3 Disember 2018)[1] ialah seorang pengarah dan penerbit filem dari New Zealand.

Beliau antara pembikin filem paling berpengaruh di New Zealand melalui beberapa karyanya yang turut menghidupkan semula minat orang New Zealand terhadap seni wayang tempatan sana.

Awal hidup

Kerjaya perfileman

Beliau menghasilkan beberapa filem tempatan yang pertama kalinya mendapat sambutan meriah dalam kalangan penduduk negara New Zealand iaitu Goodbye Pork Pie, sebuah filem cereka sains produksi bersama Nigel Hutchinson tahun 1981,[2] dan Utu, sebuah filem tahun 1983 yang mengisahkan seorang askar Māori yang memberontak setelah rejimennya membunuh kampungnya lalu menjadi seorang gerilya melawan kerajaan British.[3][4]
