Howard Philips Lovecraft (20 Ogos 1890 – 15 Mac 1937) merupakan seorang penulis dari Amerika Syarikat. Penulisan bergenre seram beliau dalam majalah pulpa tidak begitu mendapat perhatian semasa hayatnya, malah beliau meninggal dalam keadaan yang miskin.[1] Walau bagaimanapun, idea-idea yang dibawa dalam penulisan beliau masih berbekas melalui adaptasi dan peminjaman watak dan latar yang digalakkan Lovecraft sendiri oleh para pembaca majalah-majalah ini menjadi Kelompok Lovecraft (The Lovecraft Circle); unsur-unsur yang dibawa pada penulisan inilah menjadikan beliau antara penulis seram termasyhur pada abad ke-20.[2]

Penulisan Lovecraft, terutamanya berkaitan mitos Cthulhu yang diciptanya sendiri banyak mempengaruhi penulis-penulis cereka termasuk dalam genre seram moden dan fantasi.
